e-oncología, the e-learning program of the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO), was created in 2004. At present time, the project represents a strategic alliance of the educational team at the Institut Catala d'Oncologia (ICO) with the Spanish Medical Oncology Society (SEOM), the International Federation of Gynaecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), among others. So far, the program developed a comprehensive canopy of oncology courses for residents in training, continuous medical education for professionals and targeted courses for oncology nurses and general practitioners. The offer included in 2013 over 1000 educational hours in a core curriculum of 36 oncology courses in Spanish, and specialized courses on cervical cancer prevention in Spanish, English, French and Russian. Courses are all accredited by the CME regulatory system in Europe. Local Universities such as the University of Barcelona (UB) are also offering academic accreditation to their nationals.e-oncología
